Bridal Portraits and Butterflies
When the weather doesn’t cooperate what do we do? Take a trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to the Cockrell Butterfly Center. I love indoor photo-shoots almost as much as I love outdoor shoots.
Lindi was scheduled for an outdoor bridal photography shoot near an old chapel. Unfortunately, as the day approached, the weather continued to look bleaker and bleaker. A few days before the bridal portrait session, the bride asked me if I knew of an indoor garden we could shoot at instead. The first thing that came to mind, the butterfly center.
The day of the shoot arrived. Andy and I gathered our equipment headed out to the Science Museum and bought tickets for the group. Once the bride arrived, we headed into the butterfly center. Lindi captured more onlookers than the butterflies that day. People were kind enough to try to stay out of the photo, and several people came up to congratulate the bride.
The only thing we had a hard time with, was getting the butterflies in the photo. Some zipped by too fast while others just stayed away. Only once did we manage to get a butterfly to land and stay still for the photo. Maybe next time we take bridal portraits at the butterfly museum, we’ll ask the bride to bring their bouquet and maybe spray it with perfume.
