Today’s wedding tip Wednesday is all about those of you having an offbeat, unconventional wedding. Weather it’s a zombie infested Alice in Wonderland themed wedding or you’re dog is going to be your ring-bearer, I can point you in the right direction for inspiration.
The very first, and most important place I would like to send you for inspiration is the Offbeat Bride blog. This blog has it all, nerdy Princess Bride themed weddings to same sex camo-nuptials. I have more than once frequented this blog just to see what my fellow offbeat-ers are up to.
Recently, I discovered yet another reality show to look into, My Big Fat Geek Wedding. The show airs on Syfy, but I’m not sure if it will continue? There only appears to be one episode about a couple who met playing Final Fantasy online. The couple decides they want a Game of Thrones/Lord of the Ring themed wedding, and their wedding planner pulls all the stops!
I hate the Knot, but they do offer an offbeat wedding section to help you find the right venders. Of coarse, you can also ask me. I’ve been the photographer for (and been in) my fair share of offbeat weddings. Been there, done that and I’ve got the t-shirt to prove it.
You can always frequent Pinterest for inspiration. I had a Halloween wedding, and had a board dedicated to Halloween weddings. Here are several boards I found that might kick start your wedding board:
Lastly, one of the best places to shop for any wedding, but especially offbeat weddings, is Etsy. I can’t tell you how much stuff (and Ideas) I got from Etsy. One of the great things about Etsy is that many of the venders are more than willing to create something custom for your wedding. I sent a photo of myself and my husband to a vender, Mealymonster, who made a vampire and zombie cake topper that looked like us.
